I don’t know that skin care products are the number one cause of cancer and other illnesses, however I do think that we can minimise our exposure to certain toxins by being aware of the things we use in our day to day lives.
Remember, too, that natural ingredients can be harmful, such as mushrooms, peanuts, poison ivy and pollen!
By being conscious of the way we live, we can try to clean up our own lives and, by doing so, the planet, too.

Personal care products(Shampoos, Hair Dyes, Lipstick, Deodorants, Toothpaste)
that are not organic are linked to all types of cancer.

Antiperspirants and deodorants are the number 1 cause of breast cancer in
woman.

What a toxic world we live in!

I think it’s soooo amazing and primal that your husband continues to be intrigued by your smell after years of marriage; talk about your natural allure of mystery!
Hmmm smells that bring back strong memories? My new perfume Roses et Chocolate by Ayala Moriel overshadows all smells in my memory – for me it is divinely intoxicating and simply explodes on my skin. It reminds me of the importance of indulging yourself al the time!

Thanks for your appreciation. Essential oils fuel my fascination with aroma and, having studied their therapeutic application, I’m now studying natural perfumery. My “kit” is never far from my side!

What a fascinating blog post! My husband says he’s intoxicated by the natural smell of my neck, sans soap or perfumes — and this after more than two decades of marriage.

I asked on our Facebook Page if there were any scents or fragrances that brought back strong memories. Mine: eucalyptus = grandmother’s house; roses = Mom; Love’s Baby Soft (remember that perfume?) = preteen innocence.

Ayala, I didn’t know that country of origin can refer to the location where it was extracted; this totally explains my surprise about the Cacao absolute coming from France.
Very much looking forward to working with Cacao in class….and smelling chocolate ALL the time!

I’m very sad to hear the child labour and slavery issues associated with chocolate… So many things that we enjoy in life come at a price, and we have to ask ourselves if it’s worth it, once we’ve been informed.

On another note – and to answer your question of the origin of cacao absolute: For many absolutes, the country of origin will be where it was extracted, not where it was grown, especially when it is France – which is one of the world’s largest producer of such absolutes for the perfume industry, from dried plant matter – such as spices, patchouli leaves, vanilla beans, cacao… They have better technology and standards for such production then most of the countries where the plants were grown. With fresh plant matter, it has to be done on the spot (i.e.: flowers have to be extracted or distilled within a couple of hours after they were picked).

This was a really fun article, and very informative! Strangely enough, I also stopped wearing perfume a few years ago and have only just gone back to wearing one again albeit infrequently!
